Mary Anna Goetz
Mary
Anna Goetz was
born in 1946 in Oklahoma City where she began her art studies as a
pupil of her
well known artist parents, Richard and Edith Goetz. After earning a
Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Oklahoma City University, Goetz
furthered her studies at the Malden Bridge School of Art in upstate New
York; Cape School of Art in Provincetown, MA; and The New York Academy
of Art in New York City.
A noted landscape painter, Goetz's work represents a continuation of the American landscape tradition with a special focus on New York city, the Hudson River Valley and the famous art colony Woodstock, New York where the artist maintains her studio. She is also included in numerous other corporate and private collections including Union Pacific, the Union League Club, Hudson River Club, White and Case and the Professional Golf Association. One-person exhibitions of Mary Anna Goetz's work have been held at galleries throughout the country including Grand Central Art Galleries, New York, Howell Gallery, Oklahoma City and Newman Galleries, Philadelphia. A technique book written by Goetz entitled Painting Landscapes in Oils was published in 1990 by North Light Books. In 2006 JCG Productions has released a 90 minute DVD and Video titled A Field Guide to Landscape Painting. Goetz also maintains an active teaching schedule and is a faculty member of the Woodstock School of Art. She is also a member of the National Association of Women Artists, and the National Arts Club. Mary Anna Goetz is included in Who's Who in American Art and Who's Who in the East. |

| Edith Goetz
(1918-1988) Born in
Philadelphia, Edith
Goetz received her art training in New York at the Art Students League,
The National
Academy of Design and the Grand Central School of Art. She also studied
in
Provincetown, MA at the Cape School of Art. Her instructors included
some of
the most prominent artists of the time including Charles C. Curran,
Sidney
Dickinson, Henry Hensche and Charles Chapman. The graceful
line and
delicate shading of her nudes and portraits have led to numerous awards
and a
successful exhibition record with galleries throughout the country,
including
Portraits Incorporated, New York; the Jamison Gallery; Santa Fe; and
the
Oklahoma City Art Center. Shortly
before her death in
1986, Edith Goetz’s pastel paintings were featured in a one person
exhibit Pastel

| Richard Goetz (1915-1991) Though he was
born in
Tennessee, Richard Goetz spent most of his childhood and professional
life in
Oklahoma. It was there he made a home for his family of six children
with his
artist wife Edith, whom he met at the Art Students League. Richard Goetz
worked as a
professional artist and teacher for over 50 years, winning many awards
including the McDonough and Purchase Awards at the Butler Institute,
Youngstown, OH; Best in Show at the Great Plains Museum; and Gold
Medals at the
Oklahoma Art Center and the American Artist Professional League Grand
National. Specializing in
highly
refined still life compositions, Goetz’s work was exhibited at many
prominent
galleries including Fenn Gallery in Santa Fe, N.M., and Grand Central
Art
Galleries in New York. His work is included in public collections
including The
Oklahoma Art Center which purchased a collection of Goetz’s oils,
watercolor,
drawings and graphics for its permanent collection in 1979. A distinguished teacher,
Goetz was co-owner of the Malden Bridge School of Art in upstate New
York and
for many years was a member of the faculty of the Art Students League,
New York
City. |
